On April 3rd, the preparatory meeting for the "China 5G Beidou Precision Positioning Alliance" organized by China Mobile was held at Wuhan University. 27 enterprises from all over the country, including JD, Didi, ZTE, Huawei, Baidu, Tencent, Zhonghaida, China Aerospace Technology, and China Electronics Technology Group, applied to join, marking the acceleration of the marketization of China Mobile 5G Beidou precision positioning applications.
5G Beidou's "Black Technology" is here
An application of automotive automatic braking technology based on Beidou's precise positioning has taken shape. A full media reporter from Hubei Daily saw that the "Beidou Instant Judgment" system jointly developed by Hubei Mobile Company and Wuhan University has begun experimental testing. The system can automatically determine the "following distance" based on the location information of the vehicle, and brake and decelerate in real-time.
Implementing automatic braking requires more precise positioning services. At present, the accuracy of mobile navigation positioning can only reach about 10 meters, which is not accurate enough. The Beidou ground-based enhancement system can provide "centimeter level" navigation positioning by playing navigation auxiliary positioning signals through ground communication base stations. The "5G+Beidou" is making automatic braking a reality.
On high-speed rail lines, "empty running" mobile inspection cars are set up every morning to detect safety hazards. Now, a "black technology" for cost reduction and efficiency enhancement has been launched - the Wuhan University team has showcased a 5G unmanned rail inspection vehicle, which is only the size of a single carriage and can automatically run on the rails. Combined with 5G and Beidou technology, real-time monitoring of rail wear, shape and other status information, automatic analysis of rail damage, generation of inspection reports, making high-speed rail inspection more economical and convenient.
The scene also showcased a 5G robotic arm that can simulate real-time changes in human fingers, a holographic scanning projector that can model 2D images of books in 3D, and a 5G operating table that can perform surgery remotely
Chen Yurong, an expert at China Mobile Shanghai Industrial Research Institute, said that the 5G Beidou precise positioning service is suitable for various industries such as port loading and unloading, airport scheduling, railway positioning, disaster monitoring, autonomous driving, logistics and freight, smart cities, etc. The technology market exceeds a trillion yuan. The "5G+Beidou" Innovation Center is about to emerge
The five elements of "gold, wood, water, fire, and earth" are theories used by ancient Chinese philosophers to interpret the formation and interrelationships of all things in the world. According to Liu Jingnan, an academician of the CAE Member and a professor of Wuhan University, "time, spatial location, material, energy and information" are the "new five elements" of modern society. At present, human demand for spatiotemporal location information is shifting from physical space to virtual network space.
Liu Jingnan said that the ability of humans to perceive and control the physical world must be extended at the temporal and spatial scales to achieve the perception, cognition, decision-making, and regulation capabilities of machines in artificial intelligence. Therefore, "5G+Beidou" is the information infrastructure for achieving the era of artificial intelligence and the commanding height for the development of future "communication+navigation" technology. In terms of network construction, it is necessary to integrate and integrate 5G communication base stations with the BeiDou navigation system, so that the entire 5G network base stations, gateways, and main servers are equipped with the BeiDou "nanosecond" (one billionth of a second) time system and "centimeter level" coordinate system, providing network support for future innovative applications. For example, vehicles, roads, and the surrounding environment of the road network achieve full spatiotemporal sensing. In the event of a traffic accident, the intelligent transportation system can automatically extract the video stream and data packets from the first 10 seconds of the accident, providing technical support for police and security linkage; The "5G+Beidou" system can also provide three-dimensional modeling of the atmosphere, achieving precise weather forecasting at fixed times, locations, and regions.
The key to the development of 5G Beidou high-precision positioning is its application, "said Tao Hua, Deputy General Manager of Hubei Mobile Company. The" China 5G Beidou Precision Positioning Alliance "was established in Wuhan, mainly based on the advantages of the 5G network in the Wuhan region and the technological industry advantages of Beidou satellite positioning technology. The alliance will be committed to building a precision positioning industry chain cooperation and exchange platform, aggregating precision positioning technology research and development capabilities, creating a technology collaborative innovation system, breaking through key precision positioning technologies, and achieving the localization of core equipment and technologies.
On November 8, 2018, Hubei Mobile signed a cooperation agreement with Wuhan University to carry out comprehensive cooperation in fields such as 5G Beidou high-precision positioning technology testing and application, smart campus, remote education, and smart healthcare. At the preparatory meeting for this alliance, leading enterprises in various industries in China have clearly defined their application needs for high-precision positioning and proposed cooperation plans to jointly build Wuhan into a domestic "5G+Beidou" innovation center. Shared bike express logistics craves new technologies
At the preparatory meeting, Didi and JD.com were the most thirsty for "5G+Beidou" technology.
Zhu Zhenjiang, the head of the Strategic Cooperation Department of Didi Company, stated that since 2016, the shared bicycle industry has gone through several stages: market darling, bicycle siege, reduced regulation, and integrated governance. The government management department has shifted from inclusive encouragement to restricted management, and issues such as "bicycle graveyards" have caused high asset loss rates for enterprises. The number of shared bicycle enterprises has decreased from a peak of 69 to less than 10 now.
At present, the dilemma of the shared bicycle industry is mainly the difficulty of offline maintenance. The government requires that the ratio of maintenance and management personnel to the number of bicycles in enterprises be 1:200, while the actual ratio of people to vehicles is currently 1:1000, resulting in a large number of bicycles being abandoned in residential areas, grasslands, and even rivers. Only about 40% of bicycles are in an "active state" every day.
In Zhu Zhenjiang's view, it is currently difficult to manage users to park bicycles in designated areas of the city in a standardized manner. By using "5G+Beidou" technology, a "virtual fence" can be established. In fixed areas of the city, a shared bicycle parking area without fences, lines, and flexible adjustments can be set up. The "parking area" is only displayed in the user's mobile app, and in reality, it is "invisible". Users can only park their bicycles in the area for locking and settlement.
Wang Zichen, an expert in the research and development department of JD Logistics, admitted that in the Beijing area, busy JD couriers have a peak walking distance of over 42 kilometers per day, which is equivalent to the distance of a full marathon. They need high-precision logistics maps to optimize delivery routes, achieve accurate portraits of distribution, transportation capacity, users, and business districts, and reduce costs and increase efficiency in the logistics industry. In addition, precise positioning services are also beneficial for express logistics enterprises to carry out new technology applications such as unmanned warehouses, unmanned trucks, drones, and delivery robots, promoting the efficiency revolution of the logistics industry.
