What materials are commonly used to make PCB boards, and what are the advantages of PCB boards made of various materials?
What is copper clad plate? The primary material of PCB board is copper clad plate, which is composed of substrate, copper foil, and adhesive. The substrate is an insulation layer board composed of polymer synthetic resin and reinforced materials; On the surface of the substrate, a layer of pure copper foil with high conductivity and excellent weldability is covered, with a commonly used thickness of 35-50/ma; The copper clad plate covered by copper foil on one side of the substrate is called single-sided copper clad plate, and the copper clad plate covered by copper foil on both sides of the substrate is called double-sided copper clad plate; Whether the copper foil can be firmly covered on the substrate depends on the adhesive. There are three commonly used thicknesses of copper clad plates: 1.0mm, 1.5mm, and 2.0mm.
What are the commonly used types of copper clad plates
There are several commonly used types of copper clad plates:
FR-1- Phenolic cotton paper, which is commonly referred to as electric wood board (with higher economic efficiency than FR-2).
FR-2- Phenolic cotton paper.
FR-3- Cotton paper, epoxy resin.
FR-4- Woven glass, epoxy resin (commonly used fiberglass board in Shenzhen Zhongke Circuit).
FR-5- Glass cloth, epoxy resin.
FR-6- Ground glass, polyester.
G-10- Glass cloth, epoxy resin.
CEM-1- Cotton paper, epoxy resin (flame retardant).
CEM-2- Cotton paper, epoxy resin (non flame retardant).
CEM-3- Glass cloth, epoxy resin.
CEM-4- Glass cloth, epoxy resin.
CEM-5- Glass cloth, polyesters.
AIN - Aluminum Nitride.
SIC - Silicon carbide.
There are also many varieties of copper clad plates. According to different insulation materials, it can be divided into paper substrate, glass cloth substrate, and synthetic fiber board; According to the different types of adhesive resins, they can be further divided into phenolic, epoxy, polyester, and polytetrafluoroethylene; It can be divided into general and special types according to its purpose.
Structure and characteristics of commonly used copper clad plates in China
1) Copper coated phenolic paper laminate is a laminated product made by impregnating insulation impregnated paper (TFz-62) or cotton fiber impregnated paper (1TZ-63) with phenolic resin and hot pressing. The adhesive paper on both surfaces can be attached to a single alkali free glass impregnated cloth, and one side is coated with copper foil. Primarily used as a printed circuit board in radio equipment.
2) Copper clad phenolic glass cloth laminate is a laminated product made by hot-pressing an alkaline free glass cloth soaked in epoxy phenolic resin. It is coated with copper foil on one or both sides, and has advantages such as lightweight, excellent electrical and mechanical properties, and convenient processing. The surface of the board is light yellow. If tricyandiamide is used as a curing agent, the board surface is light green and has excellent transparency. Mainly used as printed circuit boards in radio equipment with high operating temperatures and frequencies.
3) Copper clad polytetrafluoroethylene laminate is a type of copper clad plate made by hot pressing copper foil onto polytetrafluoroethylene board as the substrate. Mainly used as printed boards in high-frequency and ultra-high-frequency circuits.
4) Copper clad epoxy glass cloth laminate is a commonly used material for hole metallized printed circuit boards.
5) Soft polyester coated copper film is a ribbon material made by hot pressing polyester film and copper, which is curled into a spiral shape and placed inside the equipment in application. To reinforce or prevent moisture, it is often poured into a whole with epoxy resin. Primarily used for flexible printed circuits and printed cables, it can serve as a transition line for connectors.
