What are the commonly used types of PCBA substrates

1. FR-4 board is an epoxy board with high mechanical and dielectric properties, good heat and moisture resistance, and outstanding mechanical workability.

2. Aluminum substrate is a metal based copper clad plate with outstanding heat dissipation function. Generally, a single panel consists of a three-layer structure, namely a circuit layer (copper foil), an insulation layer, and a metal substrate. Aluminum substrates are often used in LED lighting products. There are two sides, positive and negative. The white side is welded with LED pins, and the other side presents aluminum nature. Generally, it will be touched with the thermal conductive part after being coated with thermal conductive paste.

3. FPC board is a highly reliable and excellent flexible printed circuit board made of polyimide or polyester film. It has the characteristics of high wiring density, light weight, thin thickness, and good bending performance. Used in high-end products such as smartphones and hard drives.

According to different product uses, the selection of PCBA substrates may vary. Generally, the more high-end the product, the more high-end and expensive the PCBA substrate used.
